BIOGRAPHY

As a graduate of Eastside High School, Darryl achieved high honors in Music. Darryl was a two-time North Jersey Opera Festival winner, three-time North Jersey Region Chorus bass, selected to the 12 member 1981 All State Jazz Ensemble, winner of the Bel Canto Award as a senior and was the first high school student to perform with the New Jersey Philharmonic in 1982. All of these accomplishments came under the musical direction of Francesca P. Kubian.
His studies continued at New Jersey City State University where he majored in voice education. While at NJCU, Darryl landed the lead role in two opera productions, Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore and W.A. Mozart Don Giovanni and was selected to attend the Harvard Men's Choral Society in 1985. All of these accomplishments came under the musical direction of the late Dr. Ann R. Estill. Darryl completed his studies at Thomas Edison University.

Darryl’s passion for music continued while he served as a professor of music at Ramapo College. During his fourteen year tenure, he directed the Ramapo Gospel Chorus, Ramapo Chorale and was the Musical Director for “The Wiz”, “Hair” and Stephen Sondheims “Company” under the direction of Mary Ellen Allison. He was also the Musical Director for “Vinegar Tom” where he scored original rock music for the play under the direction of Marya Mazor.
Darryl Redmond is a gifted singer/songwriter and has written, arranged and performed with many notable artists and choirs throughout his life. Most notable was his time spent performing with gospel legend Andrae Crouch in 1984.
Darryl Redmond was writer and producer on the CD "King Of My Heart" for his family group "The Redmonds” in 1999. Darryl was an arranger on five tracks for award winning composer Gary William Friedman for the “Do You Ever Dream” CD by artist Stevie Holland in 2000. Darryl wrote the song "Oh How I love Him" for the "Garden StateChoral Chapter" on their 2004 release of "You Are The One."

Darryl has written and produced artists Felisha Farrar in 2014 with her first album release “Let The Praises Flow” and Kimberly Schuyler in 2017 with her first album release “Shine Your Light”

Now in 2020, Darryl has released his first Christmas Album entitled “What A Wonderful Day”. This ten song project which includes six original tracks along with some traditional holiday favorites is a classic Christmas album. You definitely want to add this to your holiday collection.
